#Dental abrasion or Cervical abrasion

Cervical abrasion is a irreversible, non-carious, mechanical wear of the hard tissues of the tooth mostly in the neck of the tooth. Abrasion causes notches to appear on your teeth, often at the place where they meet the gumline.

When the enamel wears off and the dentin becomes exposed, it could cause tooth sensitivity. Eventually you may feel pain when you eat hot, cold, sour or sweet foods.

The recommend treatment is to cover up the exposed dentin, with the material which will match your natural tooth color to make it less noticeable.

You can avoid damaging your tooth enamel further by learning the proper brushing technique, using a soft bristled brush and by brushing your teeth with non abrasive toothpaste.
